Potomac River
May 20th, 2017

The battle on the Potomac River began with a surprise closure of the Smallwood Park launch due to a Triathlon event.  The Ratz made the decision to launch upriver at Slavins.  Six boats launched for this second tournament of the season ahead of the high winds and an incoming small craft advisory.  This forced the Ratz to stay close in case the weather got ugly.  Those that ventured to Chicamuxenreported 3-foot waves on the way back to Mattawomen.

No one laid a goose egg in this tournament and three anglers brought back 5-fish limits. Frank took the win, bringing in bag weighing 15.55 lbs.  Gary won the lunker pool and second place with a big fish of 4.34-lb. Ron took 3rd place by catching the third limit of the day.  Tom won the last minute snakehead pool by hauling in the only snakehead in the tournament.
